Don't Forget!! >> Posted By: DirtyDeeds |

America is springing forward.
Most Americans trade an hour's sleep this weekend for more evening sunshine to enjoy after work.
Officially the change to daylight saving time occurs at 2 a.m. Sunday, local time, though most folks set their clocks and watches ahead an hour before going to bed on Saturday.
In areas that observe the change, clocks fall back when standard time returns Nov. 7.

STK Battle Arena >> Posted By: DirtyDeeds |
|
Although this map has been up on the servers already for a couple of weeks now, I figured I would go ahead and do an official release since this map is completed.
Map Name: dm_stk_battlearena_rc_final Spawn Points: 10 Map Type: Arena Style
About the Map When I first started creating this map, my inspiration began with two other maps, dm_lostvillage & dm_lostarena. Not wanting to steal anything from those two maps, i studied each for about a week, ran around in each in offline mode, and made notes about what I liked about each, and then I set out to begin my creation.
When I opened up Hammer and started the actual building process, I didn't know what I was going to end up with or how I was going to start. So I just started with the part that was the most difficult, and that is the curved corners. Being that I had never done those before, It only made sense to me to start there, so I did
Total build time and error/fixing for me, was probably 2 weeks tops. I've have received some great comments about this map, so I encourage you to post a comment or a suggestion if you have not. This is my first GOOD map that has a 3d skybox, and i hope everyone enjoys it..

Valve Teases a Mac Release of Steam >> Posted By: DirtyDeeds |
|
Today, MacNN, Shacknews and RPS - each one of these websites has received a mysterious image with the following note: "In anticipation of an upcoming announcement from Valve.". Whatever the announcement, it looks like Valve will have something to tell us at GDC next week.
Combine this with the Mac OS X menu components found in the new Steam UI Beta, and you'll see that it suggests that Valve may be planning to make a move into the Mac platform.
This should be very interesting indeed if they intend on a true release for mac OS |

New Steam User Interface is released today >> Posted By: DirtyDeeds |
|
As of today, a new version of Steam is available through a public opt-in beta, open to all Steam users. This Steam update provides several major upgrades to the platform's core functionality. We've overhauled the Steam user interface to enhance the way you already buy and play games, adding more info about the things that matter — getting games, playing them with friends, and staying current in the gaming world.
Improvements:
* Complete overhaul of Steam client UI design to improve discoverability of features and to better expose all the information related to games in your library * Complete overhaul of in-game overlay UI design to create a richer in-game experience exposing context sensitive information related to the game you are currently playing * New game details view, presenting a detailed view of all the information for a single game in your library * New grid view, presenting a graphical view of your game library * New news page in the store/client/overlay which aggregates from Valve related news sites, official community groups, and third-party gaming news feeds * New downloads view in the client, making it easier to track your progress downloading new games or game updates * New Steam store design, including more integrated community features, improved recommendations, and improved video and screenshots viewing (and much more!) * Now using a WebKit based rendering engine for the client and in-game overlay web browsing components (replacing Internet Explorer)
For more information, head over to the Official Steam 2010 Site
If you already have Steam installed on your computer, you can take part in the beta by clicking this link and then selecting "2010 UI Update" under Beta Participation. |
